Phone Down
Life Up

What is Phone Down Life Up?
An analog, behavior-training and boundary-setting method focused on the phone-down action. It turns “put the phone down” into a deliberate, repeatable movement that becomes a reliable starting point for building new habits.
What do you mean by “boundary-setting”?
Boundary-setting means creating intentional separation between you and your phone. The Phone Timeout Sheet adds a physical cue in your environment and a clear placement rule to support that.
How is this different from app blockers or screen-time limiting software?
Apps/software solutions intervene after pickup by applying software rules to restrict phone use once it’s in your hand.
This method intervenes at the moment of disengagement, training and supporting the phone-down moment to reshape your physical relationship with the device.
Who is this for?
For anyone tired of trying to solve a phone problem with phone solutions. For people who want a real-world, analog approach to practicing “phone down” that creates and reinforces physical separation from the device.

Full System
(Sessions Edition)

What is the Full System (Sessions Edition)?
Our flagship system built on the Phone Down Life Up method, using a sessions-based format. You run phone-down sessions inside a repeatable 7-day cycle, using the structure to redirect time into something off-phone.
Why does it say “Sessions Edition”?
Because this full system is the sessions-based version of Phone Down Life Up. The label simply clarifies which format you’re receiving.
What is a “Session”?
A session starts when you put your phone on the Timeout Sheet and ends when you pick it up again. The time between those two actions is the phone-free window where you do your chosen activity.
What do you mean by a 7-day cycle?
The system is built as a weekly repeat loop. You run sessions, log results, then review and tweak your setup for the next week.
What’s included (exactly)?
Two downloads: Manual (how to run it) + Toolkit (printable tools). The toolkit contains the Phone Timeout Sheet, tracking sheets, reflection activity, and planning activity. That bundle contains everything you need to run Sessions Edition on a repeatable 7-day cycle.

3-Day Starter Kit
(Sessions Edition)

What is the 3-Day Starter Kit?
A simplified 3-day experiment version of the full system. It helps you validate whether the Phone Down Life Up sessions approach works for you in real life.
Why is the Starter Kit free?
It’s free by design: a low-friction way to test the Sessions Edition approach before proceeding with the Full System.
Do I need the Starter Kit before the Full System?
Nope. It’s optional. Use it if you want a quick validation step first; otherwise start with the Full System.

The Framework

The Routine Lab framework is built around nine behavioral principles that work together to support reliable habit change.Human behavior is complex, but changing behavior does not have to be complicated. The RoutineLab framework was designed to combine multiple behavioral levers into a single integrated system. Each principle influences behavior in a different way, and when used together they reinforce and amplify one another. Instead of relying on a single tactic, the framework activates several complementary mechanisms at once.

The Nine Habit Principles

Stimulus Control
Changing the environment so the trigger is not constantly visible or reachable.

Gateway Habit
Using a single initiating action that triggers a larger downstream behavior sequence.

Habit Chaining
Linking actions into a deliberate sequence so each completed step cues the next behavior.

Anchoring Ritual
A physical action that can be repeated that signals a shift in attention or state.

Implementation Intention
Using if–then planning to convert intentions into concrete actions.

Approach-Oriented Goal
Focusing on what you will do instead of focusing on what will avoid.

Replacement Behavior
Substituting an unwanted habit with a deliberate alternative.

Self-Monitoring
Tracking behavior to increase awareness and reinforcement.

Reflection & Insight
Reviewing patterns and adjusting your approach over time.
